Want to experience flying in a small airplane? Whether it is a lifelong dream of yours or you just want to have a new, exciting experience, a discovery flight with NODELAY could be just what you are looking for. Young and old in body and spirit are welcome to participate in flying with us. You may be fulfilling a bucket list item or looking for something new and exciting to get your hands into. We are here for it all. The best part—now you can be at the controls. The discovery flight is designed for you to feel your heart beat faster as you engage the throttle for the takeoff roll. You will breathe a sigh of relief when the wheels leave the ground and you ascend into a clear blue sky; Everything below becomes smaller and less significant than the present moment. We aim to uplift your spirit and activate your senses inviting you to explore the world from a new perspective. Be advised that you may momentarily believe you are limitless. This is the wonder of flight. Like love, it must be first experienced to ever be completely understood.
A discovery flight is an introductory flight lesson in which you are paired with a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) and allowed to pilot one of our airplanes under their supervision. You will learn basic fundamentals of flight and be able to practice operating the flight controls while along a scenic route several thousand feet over the valley. You will be seated on the left in the pilot-in-command seat with a clear view of all the primary instruments. Your instructor will guide you through various phases of flight commonly referring to checklists in order to break everything down into clear segments. There is nothing overly complicated about flying an airplane. It is just a combination of many small things put together, as with any great achievement. We are here to make it fun, safe, and unforgettable!
Our discovery flight will give you an hour of uninterrupted flight time and a half hour on the ground for pre- and post-flight activities, briefing and questions & answers. You will learn about:
You will take off and climb up to an altitude of 3,000+ feet above ground. Your instructor will demonstrate normal maneuvers including climb, medium-banked turns, and descents and give you the opportunity to take controls as you feel comfortable. We tailor the flight experience to you. Those who are already far enough out of their comfort zone can expect more of a cruising flight while others who have a tendency toward boredom will be shown more advanced maneuvers. (Note: we will not exceed 60 degrees of bank or 30 degrees of up or down pitch).
OPTIONAL: At the end of your flight, you may opt to receive a logbook with a formal entry signed by your instructor. This will count toward your total requirement for receiving a pilot certificate, if you choose to continue. It may also serve as a memento. Let us know beforehand if you are interested so we can have this ready for you.
